SLAGSC DETACHMENT AT ALLA KANTALE RECEIVED NEW OFFICERS' ACCOMMODATION

A new Officers' Mess and officers' accommodation constructed at 1 SLAGSC detachment, Alla Kantale using unit funds and man power was declared open by Major General Wajira Palihakkara VSV USP, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC on 09 June 2019, on the invitation extended by Lieutenant Colonel Thilak Dissanayake, CO 1 SLAGSC.

The detachment at Kantale was established in 1978 at its present location and has contributed immensely to agriculture activities in Sri Lanka Army and played a vital role during the Counter Insurgency Operations and later during the Humanitarian Operation conducted against terrorists.

The construction of new Officers' Mess as a single story building was suggested by the Col Comdt while preserving the natural environment. The project was closely supervised by Maj Wasantha Bandara, OC, Alla Kantale Detachment.

A guard turnout was accorded to Col Comdt on his arrival at the camp and later he paid a floral tribute to the War Heroes monument. He was invited to plant a Mango sapling at the new Officers' Mess premises which was followed by troop address and all ranks tea.

Brigadier Buwaneka Gunaratne, Director Agriculture and Livestock, Brigadier Chanaka Weragoda, Director, Pay and Records, Col Venura Weerakkody, Centre Commandant, COs of all SLAGSC Reg/Vol battalions, Officers and cross section of Other Ranks from 1 SLAGSC were present during the event.
