Brigadier C K Handunmulla assumed duties as the 10th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps amid religious blessings and cheerful gathering at the Regimental Centre on Tuesday, 18 June 2019.
Newly appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Col V E Weerakkody Lsc, the Centre Commandant and then honoured with the guard turnout followed by floral tribute to the Regimental War Heroes' monument. After that, pride and elegant parade was accorded in honour of the Col Comdt at the Regimental parade ground representing Officers and Other Ranks from all SLAGSC Regular & Volunteer battalions. Then, Brigadier C K Handunmulla placed his signature in the first official document to mark the assuming duty as Col Comdt, amidst chanting of Seth Pirith at the presence of his family members, council members, senior officers and regimental staffs at the RHQ SLAGSC.
The day event terminated with Tea Party and troops address at the Regimental auditorium. Council members, all Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated for the event.
