Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) received a new main entrance gate with a glamorous name board, new sentry post, and a new guard turn out platform since its inauguration in 1951.
The new entrance will add colour to the landscape of the Regiment with a proud military outlook. The new fence extending up to SLCMP detachment at Panagoda Cantonment will cover a distance of 108 meters once completed.
The new additions including the totally refurbished War Heroes monument of the Regiment was declared open by Major General Wajira Palihakkara VSV USP, acting Deputy Chief of Staff, the Sri Lanka Army, Director General Financial Management, AHQ and Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC on 21 May 2019 on the invitation extended to him by Brigadier Chanaka Weragoda, Centre Commandant SLAGSC to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The constructions were carried out by SLAGSC troops using Regimental Funds and declared open before the opening of new Regimental Headquarters building complex. Council members, all Commanding Officers along with Officers, RSMs of RHQ & battalions, cross section of Senior NCOs, NCOs and Other Ranks witnessed the opening of the new additions to the Regiment.
The proceedings were followed by the opening of Rugby Players Rest Room constructed by SLAGSC troops using Regimental Funds. A cross section of Sportsmen and women of the Regiment witnessed the event. The ceremony concluded with All ranks tea at the Regimental auditorium.
