NEW BUILDING FOR SLAGSC REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS

Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) received a new two storied building to be used as the Regimental Headquarters on 23 May 2019.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on the invitation of Major General Wajira Palihakkara, Colonel Commandant of SLAGSC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

After Regimental Centre concept was introduced to Sri Lanka Army, the Regimental Centre, SLAGSC was raised on 25 April 1989. The RHQ was co located with 1st Bn SLAGSC for the past 30 years and a long felt need was accomplished when the new RHQ building was declared open by the Commander of the Army at auspicious time at 1059 hrs amidst Seth Pirith chanting by the Maha Sangha.

A guard turn out, floral tribute to the Regimental War Heroes monument by Comd of the Army was followed by a military Parade consisting of 21 Officers and 381 Other Ranks from all SLAGSC Regular & Volunteer battalions accorded in honour of the Commander of the Army.

Large number of serving Officers and Other Ranks, retired Senior Officers and retired past Regimental RSMs witnessed the military formalities and the grand opening ceremony with pride and honour. Subsequently Colonel Commandant and council members along with Commanding Officers and Senior Staff Officers presently serving at RHQ posed for a group photograph with the Comd of the Army. A mango sapling was planted in the New building premises by the Chief Guest to mark the historic day of the Regiment.

The days proceedings concluded after All ranks tea at the NCOs Club where Colonel Commandant handed over a cheque worth of Rs.825,000.00 to Commander of the Army from the proceedings received from the Rana Gee Miyesiya organized to raise funds for development work of the Regiment.
