The new accommodation Building constructed for other ranks utilizing funds allocated by Army HQ at 5th Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (Volunteer) camp at Ambalangoda was declared opened by Major General W R Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC on 17 December 2018 on the invitation of Maj Jayantha Rajanayake SLAGSC, Commanding Officer, 5 SLAGSC (V).
Soon after the opening of the new accommodation building, Colonel Commandant was invited to plant a Mango sapling in the premises by CO - 5 SLAGSC (V) which was followed by All Ranks tea.
Centre Commandant, Brigadier Chanaka Weragoda USP, Commanding Officers 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th Battalion, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, Regimental Adjutant and few other senior officers were present at this occasion.
Colonel Commandant left his signature in the Visitors' Book before his departure from Kohilawaguruwatta, Ammbalangoda.
