Major General Wajira Palihakkara, acting Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Director General Financial Management, AHQ and Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) was awarded Vishista Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV) by His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on 22 May 2019 at the Presidential Secretariat.
The decoration is conferred on senior officers of the Regular Force of the Army, Navy and Air Force for EXCEPTIONAL, DISTINGUISHED and LOYAL SERVICE provided. They count NOT less than 25 years of CONTINUOUS, UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE and possess UNBLEMISHED record of MORAL and MILITARY conduct.
During the 68 years long history of the SLAGSC only three senior Officers of the Regiment received this prestigious decoration and namely the respective senior officers are Brigadier G V Elapatha VSV, Brigadier D L Kathriarachchi VSV USP and Major General H L Weerathunga VSV USP.
All serving Officers and Other Ranks of SLAGSC along with the members of the Regimental Ex Servicemen Association extend their best wishes to Major General Wajira Palihakkara VSV USP for this great accomplishment in his 35 years of dedicated and unblemished service to the Nation and bringing credit to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps.
