COL COMDT, SLAGSC AND DGFM, VISITS THE ARMY FARMS AT NACHCHIKUDA AND UDAYARKATTUKULAM

Maj Gen W R Palihakkara USP Col Comdt, SLAGSC and DGFM, AHQ visited Army Farms managed by Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock AHQ at Nachchikuda in SF HQ (Kilinochchi) area and Army Farm Uddayarkattukulam located in SF HQ (Mullaitivu) area on 28 July 2018.

Major R M S J Rajanayaka SLAGSC, Commanding Officer, 5 SLAGSC (V) received Col Comdt on his arrival at the Army Farm Nachchikuda. The day's programme started with a briefing and presentation highlighting the achievements since establishment of the farm. The new Other Ranks Mess building constructed by 11 ESR troops at Army Farm Nachchikuda was declared opened by the Col Comdt. During the camp visit Col Comdt observed the Agriculture Projects carried out by the staff. Thereafter Col Comdt addressed all ranks and stresses the importance of team work to achieve greater highlights.

Later, Col Comdt visited Army Farm at Udayarkattakulum. A mango sapling was planted by Col Comdt in the camp premises to mark his visit to the location. Commanding Officer - 5 SLAGSC(V), Major Jayantha Rajanayaka made a brief presentation highlighting the achievements since establishment of the farm. Colonel Commandant visited agriculture field and discussed matters pertaining to development of agriculture projects, welfare and administration aspects with officers present at venue. During the troop address Col Comdt highlighted the importance of military discipline, training, skills development and team work to achieve organization objectives.

Director, Agriculture and Livestock, Brigadier Buwanaka Gunaratne, Centre Commandant, Colonel Chanaka Weragoda USP, Staff Officer 1 (Administration), RHQ SLAGSC Maj Chandana Kodithuwakku and few other senior officers were present during the visit.
