Security Forces (West) spreads over 04 administrative provinces (-), (WESTERN PROVINCE, SOUTHERN PROVINCE less HAMBANTOTA DISTRICT, NORTH WESTERN PROVINCE, SABARAGAMUWA PROVINCE) which includes 09 x Districts (COLOMBO, GAMPAHA, KALUTARA, GALLE, MATARA, KURUNEGALA, PUTTALAM, RATNAPURA, KEGALLEcovered with a total land area of 21,073 sqkms. The stretch of a 513.12 kms coastal area also comes under the AOR of this HQ starting from MODARAGAMMARU (North of KUDIRAMALE to DIKWELLA)
SFHQ (West) AOR has been divided in to 03 x major parts as per the administrative zones, those are placed under command to 03 x Infantry Divisions (14 Infantry Division, 57 Infantry Division and 61 Infantry Division) 14 Inf Div consist with 04 x Inf Bdes which are 141 Inf Bde, 142 Inf Bde, 143 Inf Bde,144 Inf Bde , 57 (15) Inf Div consist with 03 x Inf Bdes which are 611 (151) Inf Bde, 571 (152) Inf Bde, 143 (153) Inf Bde and 61 (16) Inf Div consist with 03 x Inf Bdes which are 572 (161) Inf Bde, 573 (162) Inf Bde, 613 (163) Inf Bde. Furthermore, 19 Bns which include to three divs and 15 x Bns directly under comd to this HQ. Total no of strength is 634 x 17978.
