Viru Kekulu Pre-Schools located at Anuradhapura, Diyatalawa, Galle, Ipalogama, Manning Town, Minneriya, Pallekele and Panagoda celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2026 on 06 and 07 April 2026, under the guidance of Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU).
The programmes included traditional customs such as lighting the hearth, preparation of milk rice, Avurudu rituals along with cultural performances, traditional games and children’s activities. Activities were also included to familiarise children with Sinhala and Tamil New Year traditions.
Teachers, staff and parents participated in the event.
