Viru Kekulu Pre-Schools Conduct Medical Clinics to Promote Children’s Health and Wellbeing

Under the guidance of Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), a series of medical clinics were conducted at Viru Kekulu Pre-Schools across the island to promote the health and wellbeing of children of Army personnel and civilians.

Medical clinics were held at Minneriya on 04 March 2026 and Diyatalawa on 06 March 2026 with the participation of medical officers and nursing staff from respective Army Base Hospitals. Programmes were conducted at Ipalogama and Galle on 24 March 2026 as part of the first term health programme.

Meanwhile, medical clinics were conducted at Panagoda and Pallekele on 27 March 2026. The Panagoda programme was conducted under the supervision of Senior Member Mrs. Udari Udugama with the participation of a medical team, including the Medical Officer of Health (Homagama), medical officers, dental surgeons and public health staff. Meanwhile, a similar programme was conducted at Manning Town on 02 April 2026.

During these programmes, children underwent health assessments, including height, weight, dental condition and Body Mass Index (BMI), enabling the identification of any health concerns. Parents were also educated on child health, nutrition, immunization and healthy lifestyle practices.
