ASVU Distributes Water Purification Units and Dry Rations

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) conducted a programme on 24 September 2025 at the Army Headquarters for the distribution of water purification units and dry rations.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest together with Mrs Swendrini Dissanayake, President of ASVU.

The event commenced with the distribution of dry rations to 517 civilian employees with the aim of uplifting their living standards. In addition, 19 water purification units, valued at Rs. 74,029.05, were donated to Army personnel residing in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Districts to help their drinking water needs.

During the programme, the President of ASVU also extended financial support in several ways. A grant of Rs. 50,000.00 was awarded to civilian employee, P.K. Priyanka to ease her economic hardships, in recognition of her earlier donation of land to provide the access road for the Abimansala 2 Wellness Centre in Kamburupitiya. She further received Rs. 100,000.00 for her son’s education. Financial assistance was also provided to families of Army personnel blessed with triplets, where three grants of Rs. 144,000.00 each, calculated as Rs. 12,000.00 monthly for a year, and one grant of Rs. 96,000.00, calculated as Rs. 8,000.00 monthly for a year, were allocated to support the purchase of milk powder.
