ASVU Conducts Donation Programme

Under the guidance of Mrs Swendrini Dissanayake, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), a donation programme was conducted on 24 June 2025 at the ASVU office with the aim of enhancing welfare of Army personnel.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. During the programme, Commander of the Army officially handed over a Meridian Therapy machine, valued at Rs. 5 million, to the Director of the Directorate of Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation. The equipment, intended for the neuro-rehabilitation of War Heroes at the Abimansala Wellness Resorts, was generously donated by Mr. Ong Wee Yean, a Chinese national, through the coordination of the President of the ASVU.

A donation of Rs. 100,000.00 was made to support the daughter of late Major M.G. Wijesena, who is scheduled to participate in the Under-19 Netball Tournament in Australia. Additionally, a desktop computer was donated to Kehelovita Vidyalaya, Ratnapura, to support the study of Information Technology, as the school lacked such facilities.

Financial assistance of Rs. 400,000.00 was granted to a war hero residing at Abimansala 1 Wellness Resort as the initial instalment for house construction. A civil employee of the Directorate of Budget and Finance also received Rs. 200,000.00.

Furthermore, five children of Army personnel were each granted Rs. 100,000.00 to support their medical treatments. A donation of Rs. 144,000.00 was provided to purchase milk packs for triplets of a Non-Commissioned Officer of the 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Under the second phase of the housing project, Rs. 200,000.00 was donated to a soldier, Rs. 150,000 to three Army personnel, and Rs. 100,000 to one civil employee.
