The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with a special tea party held on 17 April 2025 at the ASVU Office, Army Headquarters.
Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, the President of ASVU, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The proceedings commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp.
As part of the day’s activities, the ASVU distributed financial assistance to support housing projects. Three soldiers were each awarded Rs. 400,000.00 to commence the construction of new houses, while five soldiers received Rs. 300,000.00 each to complete their partially built houses. Moreover, a civilian employee was granted Rs. 200,000.00 to support the completion of his partially constructed house.
In addition, during the previous monthly meeting, five more soldiers were presented with financial assistance in the first stage, aimed at supporting both new constructions and ongoing home completion efforts. In the second stage, one soldier received Rs. 200,000.00 for the construction of a new house and three soldiers were granted Rs. 150,000.00 each for the continuation of their partially built houses.
Members of the ASVU, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and civil employees participated in the programme.
