In line with International Women’s Day, the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) hosted a celebration on 08 March 2025 at the Grand Maitland, Maitland Place, Colombo.
Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, the President of ASVU graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the recitation of the ASVU song, and a two-minute silence in memory of war heroes. A short video presentation highlighted the welfare programs conducted by the ASVU and Regimental Seva Vanitha branches.
Mrs. Chandani Bandara, Chairperson of 4EVER Skin Naturals Private Limited, conducted a beauty care workshop and participants received complimentary product parcels. In appreciation of her valuable contribution towards the event, President of ASVU presented a special memento to Mrs. Chandani Bandara.
Additionally, 16 pregnant lady Officers received essential maternity aid. A lecture by Specialist Dr. Lanka Jayasuriya Dissanayake, President of the Indira Cancer Trust, educated attendees on breast cancer awareness and the importance of self-examinations.
The event also featured performances by members of the 24 Regimental Seva Vanitha branches, along with captivating acts by the Army Dancing Troupe.
Chairpersons of the Regimental Seva Vanitha Branches and ASVU members participated in the event.
