Army Seva Vanitha Unit Opens New House for Family of Fallen War Hero

Extending a heartfelt tribute to the service of a fallen War Hero, the Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), under the directions of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and supervision of Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, the President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) in collaboration with Lions Clubs International (LCI), vested a newly built house for the deserving Ranaviru family in Indagolla Grama Niladhari Divison, Dompe in line with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army on 08 November 2024.

Army Chief along with the President of ASVU graced the event as the Chief Guests with the members of Lions Clubs International (LCI). Upon the arrival, the spouse of deceased War Hero and her school-aged son warmly welcomed them by offering a sheaf of betel.

Subsequently, the Chief Guest with the members of Lions Clubs International (LCI) and ceremoniously handed over the keys of the new house to Mrs. Chanchala Chandani Haputhanthrie, spouse of deceased War Hero and her school-aged son amidst Seth Pirith chanting of Venerable Maha Sangha.

The traditional milk boiling ceremony and lighting of the oil lamp marked the customary housewarming. At the same occasion, the president of ASVU, donates essential furniture for the new home.

In recognition of the generous contribution of land for this project, Commander of the Army presented a memento to Mr. Sinha Gamini and the President of the Lions Club Sri Lanka, expressing gratitude for their support. Then the President of ASVU presented a memento to the Diyawanna Lions Club.

Additionally, Mr. Saman Jinadasa, representing Lions Clubs International District 306 C1, honored Commander of the Army and the President of ASVU with a token of appreciation for their commitment to the project.

Brigadier N. Mahavithana KSP, the Coordinating Officer of ASVU, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and members of the Diyawanna Lions Club and family members participated in the event.
