The 40th Annual General Meeting of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) took place on 21 August 2024 at the Army Headquarters with the participation of Regimental Seva Vanitha Chairpersons, Executive Board Members, and Senior Members.
Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of ASVU, chaired the meeting, which commenced with the singing of the ASVU song, followed by a two-minute silence in remembrance of fallen War Heroes. Then, a documentary was displayed containing the service rendered by ASVU.
During her address, the President elaborated on the future projects planned by the ASVU. Mrs. Nandani Samarakoon, Secretary of ASVU, presented the minutes of the previous meeting, and Major P.G.P.C Kumari, the Treasurer, presented the audit report. Lieutenant N.W.W.V.S Kavindya then presented a project report detailing the welfare activities undertaken under the guidance of Mrs. Janaki Liyanage.
Then, the President presented a wheelchair to the disabled child of a retired Officer of the 12 Gemunu Watch and another to the mother of a soldier from the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. Additionally, the wife of a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer from the Sri Lanka Signal Corps was donated a Juki sewing machine by the President to support her self-employment efforts.
Furthermore, Mrs. Chandi Rajapaksa, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLASC–SVB), handed over a sum of Rs. 200,000.00, earned from the Yoghurt Project maintained by SLASC–SVB, to the ASVU.
The meeting concluded with refreshments and a cordial interaction between the President and the members.
