The Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock Seva Vanitha Branch (SLACAL-SVB) conducted a prostheticlimbs donation programme at the Cultural Centre in Welikanda on 28 July 2024.
The initiative, spearheaded by Mrs. Varuni Kulatunge, Chairperson of SLACAL-SVB, was supported by the Security Forces Headquarters (East), 23 Infantry Division, and the 7th Battalion Gemunu Watch.
Major General S.A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, Commander, Security Forces (East) and Colonel Commandant of SLACAL, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The event benefited 26 differently-abled individuals, including five rehabilitated ex-LTTE cadres residing in Kokkadicholai, Batticaloa, Ampara, Padiyathalawa, Welikanda, Sinhapura, Punani, and Polonnaruwa.
The project carried out under the guidance of Mrs. Varuni Kulatunge, Chairperson of SLACAL-SVB and with the financial support from the "Colombo Friends in Need" society, the Rotary Club of Capital City, Mr. Hemantha Aponso, Dr. Sanjeew Rajapaksha, and Mr. S.M.S Bandara. General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers, and members of SLACAL-SVB, participated in this event.
