GW-SVB Honours Soldiers and Families

Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch (GW-SVB) hosted an event at the GW Regimental Headquarters premises to honour soldiers, their families, and civil staff on 05 July 2024.

Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Mrs. Manori Welagedara, Chairperson of GW-SVB. The event featured the distribution of medical aids, including spectacles for serving and retired soldiers, civil employees, and their families. A heartfelt moment ensued when Mrs. Janaki Liyanage presented an artificial limb to a soldier's family member.

Further highlighting the event, scholarships were awarded to exceptional children of Army families for their outstanding achievements in the Advanced Level Examination.

Adding to the day's significance, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage inaugurated a newly constructed water plant. This facility aims to meet the drinking water needs of Officers and Other Ranks stationed at the GW Regimental Headquarters premises.
