On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Army Seva Vanita Unit (ASVU), saplings of various plant species were planted at Divisions, Brigades and Battalions under command to Security Forces - Wanni on 12 July 2024.
This initiative was conducted under the concept of the President of ASVU and the guidance of Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander of Security Forces - Wanni.
Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, troops of the 56 Infantry Division launched a tree-planting program consisting of 1390 saplings (Na, Mahua, Mahogany, Sri Lankan Agarwood) on 12 July 2024 at the division's premises. The main event took place on abandoned land in the Alankulam forest reserve, with the participation of students, teachers from Mallavi National College and Thorankandal Maha Vidyalaya, forest conservation officials, government representatives, and local residents.
