ASVU Distributes Essentials & Dry Ration Packs among War Heroes at Mihindu Seth Medura

Following the conceptual layout of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyange RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and the supervision and direction of Mrs. Janaki Liyanage the President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), a programme to distribute essentials and dry rations was held at Mihindu Seth Medura, Attidiya on 07 June 2024. ASVU launched the programme aiming to ease the economic burdens of the 125 battle hardened War Heroes who are undergoing recuperation and rehabilitation in the Abhimansala I,II,III and Mihindu Seth Medura and their families.

On arrival to Mihindu Seth Medura, a resident War Hero warmly welcomed Mrs. Janaki Liyanage the President of ASVU, traditionally offering the bundle of betel. After a short while, the President of ASVU interacted with the residential War Heroes at Mihindu Seth Medura visiting to each wards and granted the instructions to the Commandant and Staff on further enhancement of the mental wellbeing of the War Heroes after inquiring their process of the clinical treatments.

Later on, the President of ASVU distributed essentials and dry rations packs among 25 War Heroes and 25 attendants and representatives of Abhimansala I,II,III who joined with the occasion. Aftermath, She joined with the meal preparation for the War Heroes.

The ASVU President also donated a stock of cleaning items and other required equipment for the swimming pool, generally used for hydrotherapy treatment of those resident War Heroes.

Moments later, Mrs Janaki Liyanage was awarded a special memento by the Commandant of Mihindu Seth Medura and a residing War Hero. Further, adding memories to the day, the President was invited to pose for a group photograph, together with resident War Heroes prior to her departure.

Brigadier S.C Ekanayake RSP, Director of Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation, Brigadier T.S Balasooriya, Commandant, Mihindu Seth Madura, Brigadier N Mahawithana KSP Brigadier (Coord) ASVU, Senior Officers, Lady Officers participated in the programme.
