1 Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (1 SLAGSC) marked their 75th anniversary by launching several community projects. One notable initiative involved the repair of a dilapidated house for a deserving family in the Panaluwa area. The project began on 15 February 2024, following the recommendations of the Grama Niladhari of the area, and completed on 29 May 2024 under the direction of the President of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit.
The troops of 1 SLAGSC and 2 (V) SLAGSC provided essential manpower for the project, under the directions of Major P Wanniarchchi, Commanding Officer of 1 SLAGSC. Local philanthropists generously contributed the necessary financial support.
Major General W.W.H.R.R.V. M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, along with Mrs. Himali Niyangoda, President of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit, officially handed over the completed house to the beneficiary on 30 May 2024.
The event was attended by the Director of the Benevolent Fund, Centre Commandant of SLAGSC, Commanding Officers of 1 SLAGSC, 2 (V) SLAGSC, 3 SLAGSC, and 4 SLAGSC, along with other Officers and Other Ranks.
