The Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock - Seva Vanitha Branch (SLACAL - SVB) organized the donation of prosthetic limbs on 19 May 2024 at the Regimental Headquarters in Karandeniya, coinciding with the 15th commemoration of National War Heroes’ Day.
This event aimed to uplift the lives of soldiers who had lost their limbs in service to the nation and to support residents of Karandeniya and nearby villages affected by various natural disasters.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Varuni Kulatunge, Chairperson of SLACAL - SVB, 27 artificial limbs were donated. The project was sponsored by Mr. Supem, Mrs. E. De Silva, Dr. Sanjeew Rajapaksha, and Ms. Dilu Rodrigo, all members of the Friends in Need Society and the Rotary Club of Capital City.
The occasion was graced by Major General S.A. Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP, Commander, Security Forces - East, and Colonel Commandant of SLACAL, as the chief guest. Senior Officers and Officers of SLACAL also participated in the event.
