The Commando Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch organized a New Year Festival to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2024 on 06 April 2024 at the Regimental Centre.
Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, the President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) graced the occasion as the chief guests.
The President of ASVU and the other invitees lit the traditional oil lamp at the village house ‘Gami Gedara’ and visited the special places in the premises. The festival included traditional new year games and fun-making games adding colour to the festival.
Towards the end, the Commander of the Army, the President of ASVU and other invitees gave away gifts to winners of the competitions.
Major General P.G.P.S Rathnayake RWP RSP ndc, Colonel of the Regiment Commando Regiment, Regimental Council members, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Civil employees and their families participated in the festival.
