ASVU Monthly Meeting Held at Army HQ

The monthly meeting of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) was held on 6 February 2024 at the Army Headquarters premises with the participation of Regimental Seva Vanitha Chairpersons, Executive Board Members and Senior Members.

Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of ASVU, chaired the meeting, which commenced with the singing of the ASVU song, followed by a two-minute silence in remembrance of fallen War Heroes.

Addressing the gathering, the President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit elaborated the achievements of the previous year, emphasizing that all projects were successfully implemented. Subsequently, Captain M.A.W Nimasha, read the minutes of the previous meeting and the Executive Secretary of ASVU, and Major P.G.P.C Kumari, the Treasurer of ASVU, presented the audit report.

Afterward, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of ASVU gave away a financial grant for three soldiers serving at the Gajaba Regiment to build their partially constructed houses. In line with the same event, the financial grant was donated to one of the civil employees serving at Gajaba Regiment for his wife’s medical treatment. Further, dry ration packs were distributed among five soldiers serving at the Gajaba Regiment.

Moreover, a stock of medical equipment was donated to the Colombo Army Hospital. Mrs. Nandani Samarakoon Chairperson of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering coordinated the donors.

At the culmination of the monthly meeting, all participants had a refreshment and president of ASVU had a cordial interaction with members.
