In an effort to boost morale and mental happiness and provide much-needed relaxation for all Officers and Other Ranks serving under the Regimental Centre, Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) and the 1 SLAWC, a ‘special musical programme was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch on 11 November (Saturday) 2023 at the SLAWC Regimental Centre premises at Borella.
The programme was initiated under the guidance of Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant SLAWC on a concept proposed by Mrs. Shyamali Wjesekera, Chairperson of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch.
The musical show backed by the Sri Lanka Light Infantry beat group, together with the Sri Lanka Army dancing group mesmerized the audience in the presence the event's Chief Guest, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps along with Mrs Shyamali Wjesekera.
The day’s Chief Guest and Mrs Wijesekera were warmly received by the SLAWC Centre Commandant and Vice President of SLAWC Seva Vanitha Branch. The Chief Guest presented special gifts to the players of Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment Band and members of the Army Dancing Group. A large gathering of Officers, Other Ranks along with civil staff serving under the SLAWC Regimental HQ participated in the event.
The kind patronage and collaboration of the ‘Athahitha Foundation’ and the Old Boys’ Association of Royal College, Colombo together with the alumni association of the University of Jayewardenepura through the coordination of Mr Prasad Loku Balasuriya, Chief Organizer of the ‘Athahitha Foundation provided essential patronage to the event.
