SLAWC-SVB Distributes School Accessories Among Children of army & Civil Families

The Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (SLAWC-SVB) organized a distribution of school accessories for students among families of Other Ranks and Civil Staff serving under the SLAWC Regimental Centre, named ‘Ranaviru Abhinandana Pooja 2023’.

Accordingly, 57 children of Other Ranks and Civil Staff received those school aid packs, each worth Rs. 20, 000/= on Saturday (November 11) during a ceremony at the SLAWC Regimental Centre premises in Borella.

The kind patronage and collaboration of the ‘Athahitha Foundation’ and the Old Boys’ Association of Royal College, Colombo, together with alumni association of the University of Jayewardenepura enabled the students to receive those incentives through the coordination of Mr Prasad Loku Balasuriya, Chief Organizer of the ‘Athahitha' Foundation, following a concept, proposed by Mrs Shyamali Wjesekera, Chairperson, SLAWC-SVB.

The project was initiated under the guidance of Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Colonel Commandant SLAWC and Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force with the support and contribution of those donors, together with Mrs. Shyamali Wjesekera, Chairperson, SLAWC-SVB. Mrs Idunil Jayakody, the deputy chairperson, SLAWC-SVB and members were present.

The Colonel Commandant, Chairperson, SLAWC-SVB, Mr Prasad Loku Balasuriya, Chief Organizer of the ‘Athahitha Foundation’, Members of the Old Boys’ Association of Royal College, Colombo and alumni of the University of Jayewardenepura attended the distribution as special guests. Several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Civil Staff and beneficiaries were present during the event.
