MIC-SVB Scholarship Programme Treats Children in MIC Families

The Military Intelligence Corps Seva Vanitha Branch (MIC-SVB) on account of the World Children's day staged a distribution of school accessories and shoes among 44 children of MIC families on Tuesday (24 October) at the MIC Regimental Centre in Karandeniya.

This initiative was implemented on a suggestion made by Mrs. Rajitha Jayasooriya, Chairperson, MIC–SVB with the blessings of the Colonel Commandant, MIC Major General L.C.R Jayasooriya RSP ndc psc.

In addition, 5 students who excelled in the Grade 5 scholarship examination were sponsored for receipt of a monthly allowance of Rs. 2000/= each (Total Rs. 10,000/=).

Moreover, students who excelled in the GCE O/L and GCE A/L examinations on the same occasion received cash incentives to the value of Rs. 15,000/= and 20,000/= respectively.

Two differently-able children, one suffering from a nerve disease and another with autism, were also rewarded with savings accounts worth Rs. 32,500/= each of the Bank of Ceylon.

Senior MIC-SVB members, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the occasion.
