Coincident with the International Children's Day, a heartwarming programme unfolded at ‘Viru Kekulu’ Pre School in Manning Town on Thursday (05 October 2023) under the patronage of Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU).
The day commenced with a warm reception for the Chief Guest, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage after a kid lent a traditional sheaf of betel to her. The children of the preschool became delighted and staged a spectrum of vibrant performances. As the programme drew to a close, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage distributed gift packs of school accessories to each child. A pre-schooler, in a touching gesture, presented a mango sapling to the President.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the preschool, a kid delivered the vote of thanks. The event culminated in a group photograph with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, followed by a delightful tea party where the President conveyed her best wishes to the children, preschool staff, teachers, and parents for their promising future.
This special occasion was graced by Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Commander, Army Logistic Command, along with Mrs. Nandani Samarakoon, Brigadier Coordinating at ASVU, Brigadier N Mahawithana KSP, senior officers, dedicated preschool staff, teachers, members of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, and supportive parents.
