Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) on Friday (1 September) visited the Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts compound and opened the newly-constructed beauty salon at the invitation of Brigadier P.R.B.A. Bandara RSP, Director, Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts.
The ASVU President, together with the Director, Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts at first shared a couple of views with All Ranks serving the Directorate and inquired about the well-being of performing women soldiers of the Directorate in Ratmalana.
Unveiling a plaque, she opened the new beauty salon and saw inside the premises in the company of several lady officers and women soldiers before she moved to see the accommodation facilities of those women soldiers.
Upon her arrival, Mrs. Janaki Liyanage was welcomed by a woman soldier offering a sheaf of betel in accordance with traditions before she was ushered to the training hall for dancing and singing enabling her to witness how aesthetic training sessions are conducting.
Senior officers, including Brigadier (Coordinator) ASVU, Brigadier N. Mahavithana KSP and several Officers were associated with the day’s agenda.
To mark her visit to the Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts, Brigadier P.R.B.A. Bandara RSP, Director, Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts awarded a memento to the ASVU President.
