The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), together with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army on Monday (14 August) took time off to meet resident patients at Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama and spent some time with them while inquiring about their well-being.
The arrangement, inclusive of donation of a consignment of essential medicines and offer of a healthy lunch to some 800 patients under treatment in the hospital was conceptualized by Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President ASVU as one more ASVU’s community-oriented welfare project.
At first, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army and Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President ASVU along with ASVU members, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks offered lunch to those patients and handed over the stock of medicine afterwards to the hospital authorities.
Brigadier Coordinating at ASVU, Brigadier N Mahawithana KSP and several officers were present during the programme.
