ASVU 's Housing Project to Build New Home for a Handicapped War Hero

The Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), chaired by Mrs Sujeewa Nelson expanding the ASVU's welfare roles further on 24th March 2022 laid the foundation stone for construction of a new house to a retired War Hero of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment who turned handicapped while fighting against LTTE terrorists before May 2009.

The financial assistance and raw materials for the project in Hingurakgoda South was provided by 'Shadow Watch' Company Ltd in response to a request of the ASVU. Troops attached to the 3 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps have undertaken the construction of this new house using their technical and engineering expertise within weeks.

The ASVU-initiated house construction project for War Heroes with special focus on those who turned disabled in the humanitarian operations launched this island-wide project and is in full swing with the support of donors and well-wishers.

Several ASVU officers and other ranks were also associated with the foundation-laying ceremony.
