SLSR SVB Awards Many Scholarships to Students in SLSR Families

The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch (SLSR SVB) launching one more phase of its scholarship award programme, ‘Ranaviru Abhinandana Pooja - 2022’ awarded 26 scholarships (each month Rs 2750/-), 26 dictionaries, 34 packs of school accessories and two special scholarships (each month Rs 3000/-) to students of SLSR families and civil staffers during a ceremony, organized at the SLSR Regimental Centre at Ambepussa on Saturday (3). The project was actively coordinated by Mr Prasad Lokubalasooriya on behalf of both donor organizations.

The scholarship award ceremony, sponsored jointly by old students of Colombo Royal College and Sri Jayawardenepura University was presided by Mrs Inoka Karunaratne, one of the former chairpersons of the SLSR SVB. The occasion was attended by Mrs Omila Jayawardene, Chairperson, SLSR SVB and Major General Priyantha Jayawardene, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR and Commander, Security Forces - East.

The ‘Ranaviru Abhinandana Pooja - 2022’ also awarded seven separate scholarships, each worth Rs. 20,000/- to seven students of SLSR families who have received admission to universities after they passed the G.C.E (A/L) Examination in the year 2020.

A large gathering of Officers including Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, Military Liaison Officer at Ministry of Defence, SLSR Centre Commandant, Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Mrs Nethmini Muthumala, Secretary to SLSR SVB, Mrs Neluka Nanayakkara, Public Relations Officer, SLSR SVB and Seva Vanitha ladies took part in the awarding ceremony.
