Army Seva Vanitha Unit Gets More Funds During Monthly Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) which is engaged in numerous welfare projects for the benefit of War Heroes, serving All Ranks and their families was held on Monday (05) at the Army Headquarters premises with the participation of Regimental Seva Vanitha Chairpersons, Executive Board Members and Senior Members.

The meeting chaired by Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President, ASVU started with singing of the ASVU song, followed by a 2-minute silence in remembrance of fallen War Heroes. The President addressed the meeting and committee members were selected according to the seniority of the ASVU members as mentioned below:

Secretary - Mrs. Chama Wanasinghe

Deputy Secretary - Mrs. Kumudu Manage

Public Coordination Officer - Mrs. Deeparekha Ranasinghe

Deputy Public Coordination Officer - Mrs. Himali Pussella

Overall Project supervision Officer - Mrs. Shanthi Abeysekara

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Major H. Wanniarachchi, Executive Secretary of ASVU and the audit report was read by Major P. Kumari, the Treasurer of the ASVU. Thereafter, the President elaborating on the achievements that had been made in the previous year stated that all the projects have been usefully implemented and reminded the gathering of the future projects that need to be performed with equal commitment and dedication for the greater interest of all Army families.

Giving a moral support for conduct of the ASVU affairs, the ASVU made a donation of Rs 450,000/= to a soldier whose house is under construction. Moreover, scholarships each, worth Rs. 120,000/= were awarded to 03 children of deceased soldiers who are schooling at present.

Moreover, profits in the ASVU yoghurt production were also given to the ASVU fund by the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit. In addition, Mrs. Thushari Wanigasekara, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Seva Vanitha Unit and Mrs Rajitha Jayasooriya, Chairperson, Military Intelligence Corps Seva Vanitha Unit also made financial donations to the ASVU fund at the same occasion.
