Signal Corps Seva Vanitha Greets New Year with Religious Projects

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps - Seva Vanitha Unit (SLSC-SVU) conducted a “Adhishtana Pooja” to invoke blessings for the New Year 2022 with a series of religious events at Anuradhapura.

These religious events were held on 31 December 2021 and 01 January 2022 at sacred Ruwanweli Maha Seya and sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises under the auspices of the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General Ashoka Peiris and the Chairperson of the SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs Sajeewani Peiris. The event was hosted by 4 SLSC at Anuradhapura.

A ‘Bodhi Pooja’ and ‘Pirith’ chanting took place with the participation of monks at Ruwanweli Maha Seya after a colourful procession made up of drummers and dancers brought Pirikara and Gilampasa for offering.

A parallel procession carried “Kiripidu Pooja” and proceeded to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya where flowers were distributed among devotees as free offerings.

The event, held with adherence to COVID-19 restrictions was attended by Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General Ashoka Peiris, the Chairperson of the SLSC Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Sajeewani Peiris and a cross section of Senior Officers and their families, Officers, Other Rankers and Civilian Staff representing the entire Corps of Signals took part in these meritorious acts.
