Kids learning at the ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-school in Minneriya, managed by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) had a full day of fun and amusement when they on Friday (30) staged their Annual Sports Meet under the theme ‘Jungle’ at the General Lionel Balagalla Stadium in the SL Artillery Complex in Minneriya.
Mrs Janaki Liyanage, ASVU President as the Chief Guest for the day’s event joined the kids, together with several ASVU members. She was warmly welcomed by the kids, together with senior ASVU members on her arrival at the premises to watch the meet.
Kids showed their talents in various features and games, inclusive of band displays, drill displays, strong elephant, butterfly game, let's collect the honey, floor dance, etc and the parents with the tutorial staff of those kids also participated in special games and fun-making events, organized by the pre-school management during the meet.
Towards the end, the Chief Guest gave away prizes to the kids before she shared refreshments while interacting with the kids and their parents. Kids also reciprocated the generosity by presenting a special gift to Mrs Janaki Liyanage who graced their annual event.
Further, the ASVU President also distributed dry ration packs to civil staff who supported the success of the event. Prior to her departure, she penned some complimentary notes in the visitors’ book.
Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General M.W.T.C Mettananda USP ndc, Commander of Forward Maintenance Area - East, Mrs Ruveena Mettananda, ASVU lady responsible for ‘Viru Kekulu’ pre-school management in Minneriya, Senior Officers, ASVU Senior Members, Other Ranks and parents were present during the event.
