Under the guidance of the Chairperson, Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch (GW-SVB), a workshop on “Empowering Self-Employment Openings” got underway on Sunday (21), led by Mrs. Kumuduni Gunasekara, President, Trade Promotion Board at the GW Regimental HQ at Kuruwita.
The programme was initiated primarily to focus on the importance of ‘self-employment’ by way of economical preparation of food varieties, production of handicrafts and preservation of food etc as well as how such measures could improve financial prospects in a family at large.
The lecture session was attended by 54 wives of soldiers and 48 Other Ranks. The lecturer, presented copies of her book, ‘Multhena Ammata’ (priority to the mother) to all the participants.
Mrs Shalika Edirisinghe, Chairperson, GW-SVB and a gathering of GW ladies attended the event.
