ASVU's ' Yoghurt' Production Extended to Diyatalawa

Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), expanding the ongoing Yoghurt production for Army troops inauguarated the ‘Yoghurt’ producing center at Diyathalawa 8 Sri Lanka Service Corps (SLASC) camp premises on Sunday (2 July) at the invitation of the ASVU.

Mrs Thushari Wasana Wanigasekara, Chairperson, SLASC Seva Vanitha Branch (SLASC-SVB) warmly welcomed the day’s Chief Guest and invited her to unveil a plaque and cut the ribbon before the new production facility was inaugurated.

After the invitees joined lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the day's Chief Guest with ASVU ladies closely inspected the new processing plant and learnt about production of Yoghurt for consumption of the troops and sale of the excess to the outsiders.

Towards the end, the host, Chairperson of the SLASC-SVB presented a special memento to Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, ASVU, adding memories to the day.

Troops are thus able to produce their own requirement of Yoghurt per day in Diyatalawa and are capable of supplying the excess to the external market, if approached. The profits of the Yoghurt product are used for soldiers’ welfare projects.

Major General WMRWWSJB Wanigasekara USP, Master General Ordnance and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Senior Members of ASVU, Senior Officers and Other Ranks participated in the inaugural ceremony.
