ASVU Initiatives Relieve More & More Civil Employees at Army HQ of Economic Burdens

The Sri Lanka Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at the Army HQ, once again extending its helping hand to lessen burning economic difficulties of civil employees serving the Army HQ and practising the ‘Daana’ (donation) precept in Buddhist teachings, awarded 483 dry and fresh ration packs to the civil employees during a special ceremony, graced by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, ASVU as distinguished guests at the Army HQ.

Symbolic of the commencement of the distribution process, the day's Chief Guest, the Commander of the Army inaugurated by awarding those relief packs to 49 civil employees. Each ration parcel included rice, potatoes, onions, coconut milk packets, etc and was worth about Rs 2500/= to the value of Rs. 1.2 m in total. Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, ASVU and other distinguished guests continued with the distribution of those relief packs afterwards.

Meanwhile, Nestlé Lanka PLC through the ASVU coordination in addition provided coconut milk packets, worth of Rs. 3.7 m to all Army personnel and civil employees working in the Army HQ compound. At the same time, steps were taken to distribute a share of those relief coconut milk packs to a representative gathering of Army personnel serving inside the Army HQ as an extension of the project.

Major General W.B.S.M Abeysekara RSP USP, Director General Finance Management, Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardana RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General, Major General W.M.R.W.W.W.H.J.B Wanigasekara USP, Master General Ordnance, Major General S.R.B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, Adjutant General, Senior ASVU members, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
