On 15 May 2025 the Renovated Guard Turnout base at the entrance of the Regimental Centre of The Gemunu Watch was officially inaugurated by Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP, the Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment.

The event saw the participation of Council members, senior officers, officers, and other ranks, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the ceremonial capabilities of the regiment. The refurbishment of the Guard Turnout base reflects The Gemunu Watch's dedication to maintaining high standards in military tradition and discipline.

In a remarkable display of courage and coordination, the disaster relief troops located at Nonperial detachment of the Gemunu Watch had successfully rescued 35 civilians on 01st March 25, who trapped due to the sudden rising of the water level of Hirikatu oya.

On 8 February 2025, In a significant demonstration of military tradition and camaraderie, the Gemunu Watch Regiment held a Felicitation Ceremony to honor the recent promotion of Major General KMN Kulasekara RWP RSP psc. The prestigious event was conducted under the guidance of Major General W B J K Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch.

On 27th January 2025, the Colonel of the Regiment of The Gemunu Watch, Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, officially visited the 5th and 9th Battalions of The Gemunu Watch.

Upon arrival at each battalion, he was warmly received by the respective Commanding Officers, who extended a ceremonial welcome in accordance with military traditions.

The finals of the Inter Regiment Swimming Championship 2025 took place from January 16 to 18 at the Swimming Complex of the Army Physical Training School, Panagoda. The event showcased incredible talent and fierce competition among the Army finest swimmers.

The Army Inter Regiment Golf Championship has concluded with great fanfare at the picturesque Golf Club, Nuwara Eliya, on January 15, 2025. Over two exhilarating days, golf enthusiasts witnessed fierce competition among 12 prestigious regiments over 100 talented players from the Army. In an inspiring display of skill and teamwork, the Gemunu Watch emerged as the champion, solidifying their reputation as one of the top golfing units in the Army.

Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, officially commenced his duties as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch with a significant visit to the under-command battalions on 16 to 17 January 2025. His visit included 12th, 7th, and 4th battalions The Gemunu Watch.

A formal ceremony was taken place to mark the assuming of the office of the newly appointed Regimental Adjutant, the Gemunu Watch Major A V R K P Rajawardhana RWP RSP on 8th January 2025 as the Regimental Adjutant.

The incoming Adjutant was welcomed by all the Officers and Other Rankers of the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch. The newly posted Adjutant assumed office, took over the duties amid religious observances and expressed his vision. All the Officers and Other Rankers of the Gemunu Watch extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Regimental Adjutant.

With the participation of the troops of the Gemunu Watch and local community of the Kahengama general area, conducted over 2000 meters of road cleaning and conducted cleaning programme at Kahengama Sri Vidyaloka Piriven on 04 January 2025. Further restored drainage system at Edandawala junction up to the Regimental Centre on same day. The initiative was taken by troops of Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch under the guidance and participation of Colonel of the Regiment Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP and Centre Commandant the Gemunu Watch.

Major General U.L.J.S Perera RSP USP psc of the Gemunu Watch, assumed office on 01 January 2025 as the new Military Secretary (MS) of the Sri Lanka Army at the Army Headquarters during a brief ceremony.
