General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division, Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc assumed duties as the 20th Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 29 December 2025 at the office of the Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc was welcomed by Colonel R R K Rajapksha Udage, Deputy Centre Commandant, RC SLSR and was honoured by a guard turn out on his arrival.
Then after, he received the salute presented by SLSR troops at the parade square. The charming and dignified military Guard of Honour was reviewed by the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment and was accompanied by the Parade Commander together with Brigadier P M S Karunaratne psc, Centre Commandant, RC SLSR following the military traditions.
The day’s agenda commenced in accordance with the military traditions. Subsequently, Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc placed the signature in a formal document symbolizing the assumption of duties as the Colonel of the Regiment in his new office.
Afterwards, a floral tribute was paid at the War Heroes Monument in memory of all valiant Officers and Other Ranks of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland and newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment was invited to plant a sapling to mark the significant day.
Later, he addressed the troops and shared his thoughts and views. Then, he joined for an all ranks tea.
The newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment posed for a group photograph with all Officers and the event concluded with a ‘Lunch’ at Officers’ mess. Council Members, Batch mates of the senior officer, senior officers, retired senior officers, officers and family members of the officers participated to the event.
