Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Celebrates 69th Anniversary with Pride and Tradition

The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) proudly marked its 69th Anniversary on 01 October 2025 with a vibrant and dignified celebration steeped in military tradition, customs and honor.

The ceremonial proceedings began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Major General JKR Jayakody RWP USP - Deputy Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) and the Colonel of the Regiment of SLSR. He was warmly received by the Deputy Centre Commandant at the Regimental Headquarters and was honoured with a traditional Guard Turnout at the main entrance.

Following this, Colonel of the Regiment received a salute from SLSR troops at the parade square. The ceremonial parade, executed with precision and decorum was reviewed by the Colonel of the Regiment and accompanied by the Parade Commander along with Brigadier HAI Perera RWP RSP USP ndc - Centre Commandant of the SLSR, in accordance with long-standing military traditions. During the parade, the Chief Guest addressed the assembly by sharing his reflections and commending the Regiment’s continued excellence.

A solemn moment followed with a floral tribute laid at the War Heroes Monument to honour the memory of all valiant Officers and soldiers of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the motherland.

Later, to mark the significance of the 69th Anniversary, the Chief Guest also planted a sapling within the Regimental Centre premises a symbolic gesture representing growth, continuity and hope for the future.

Another highlight of the day was the ceremonial opening of a newly renovated concrete road to the Maha Oya area, an essential infrastructure development long required by the Regimental Centre. This project stands as a testament to the Regiment's commitment to continuous improvement.

As part of the anniversary programme, Colonel of the Regiment joined Officers and Other Ranks for refreshments. During the gathering, he distributed certificates of appreciation and pairs of canvas shoes to soldiers who had worked diligently on the road renovation and other associated tasks. Later, participated in an All Ranks Lunch held at the Other Ranks' Mess.

The event was attended by Council Members, the Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers and a large gathering of Officers and Other Ranks, all of whom contributed to making the 69th Anniversary celebration a memorable and meaningful occasion.
