On 19 December 2024, a total of 68 students and 5 teachers from Hindu College Jaffna, Tamil Central College Vavuniya, and Rideethenna Iqrah College Punanai, participated in a special programme held at the Regimental Centre of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment in Ambepussa under the expert guidance of Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and closely supervised by Brigadier Chaminda Thibbotuge, Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
The session included a variety of activities designed to promote reconciliation and develop the leadership skills among the students. The programme included
A visit to the regimental camp premises and Community library.
Interaction with the regimental mascots, Cougar and Elsa.
A swimming session to encourage recreational skills.
Team-building activities to foster unity and collaboration among students.
Further this initiative has take these students into deep understanding of Sri Lanka military, it’s customs, traditions, ethics and discipline which immensely influenced children to lead for a successful brighter future promising nation.
