Commemorative Ceremony Honours Late Corporal Gamini Kularatne PWV

The 33rd commemorative ceremony for the late Corporal Gamini Kularatne PWV, who valiantly sacrificed himself defending the Army camp at Elephant Pass on 14 July 1991, took place on 10 July 2024 at the monument dedicated to his memory.

Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Major General Nanayakkara, the only serving officer who participated in the historic Elephant Pass battle, honoured Corporal Kularatne by lighting the eternal flame atop the monument and laying a floral wreath.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks, Mrs. Y.G Juliet, mother of the late Corporal Gamini Kularatne PWV, and his family members also paid their respects, marking a solemn conclusion to the ceremony.
