Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bid farewell to Major General W L A C Perera RWP RSP USP on 4 December 2024, who retired after serving more than 34 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army. Ceremony was held in its customary way at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
According to military traditions, Colonel C N Kathriarachchi RWP, Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR, welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he was accompanied by Brigadier C S Thibbotuge, Centre Commandant RC SLSR to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour. After a while, he was invited to commemorate the fallen War Heroes at the SLSR war heroes’ monument.
Later in the day, he was joined all ranks tea for refreshments where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees.
During the ceremony, all Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing distinguished senior officer for his commitment and dedication to the Sinha Regiment and wished him a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
At the end of the day’s agenda, a glamorous dinner was arranged and to recognize his military leadership and unparalleled contribution to the Army, a special memento was presented to the outgoing Major General W L A C Perera RWP RSP USP, by Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment during the formal Dinner. A special award was presented to Mrs. Samuddika Sanjiwee Mahendrasekara, spouse of the outgoing senior officer by Mrs. Neluka Nanayakkara, president of the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch to appreciate her service rendered to the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch.
Council members, senior officers, officers, batch mates and relatives of the outgoing senior officer attended to the event.
