Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bid farewell to the former Commandant of Marksmanship and Sniper Training School , Brigadier R P Munipura RWP RSP on 8 May 2025, who retired after serving more than 34 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army. Ceremony was held in its customary way at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
According to military traditions, Colonel A A Ekanayake RWP RSP psc Lsc, SO 1 (OCPC), welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he was accompanied by Colonel C N Kathriarachchi RWP, Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR to receive the salute of the Ceremonial Parade. After a while, he was invited to commemorate the fallen War Heroes at the SLSR war heroes’ monument.
Later in the day, he was joined all ranks for refreshments where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees.
During the ceremony, all Officers and Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing distinguished senior officer for his commitment and dedication to the Sinha Regiment and wished him a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
At the end, a lunch was arranged and to recognize his military leadership and unparalleled contribution to the Army, a special memento was presented to the outgoing Brigadier R P Munipura RWP RSP, by Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP, Deputy Commander Security Forces West and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. Brigadier H A I Perera RWP RSP USP ndc - Centre Commandant of RC SLSR, Council members, senior officers, officers attended to the event.
