SLSR NEW COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT ASSUMES DUTIES

General Officer Commanding of 58 Infantry Division, Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP assumed duties as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on 11 February 2025 at the office of the Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.

Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP was welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant, RC SLSR Colonel C N Kathriarachchi RWP and was honoured by a guard turn out on his arrival.

The day’s agenda commenced in accordance with the military traditions. Subsequently, Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP in his new office placed the signature in a formal document symbolizing the assumption of duties as the Colonel of the Regiment.

Then after, he received the salute presented by SLSR troops at the parade square. The charming and dignified military Guard of Honour was reviewed by the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment and was accompanied by the Parade Commander together with Brigadier C S Thibbotuge, Centre Commandant RC SLSR following the military traditions.

Later in the day’s agenda, newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment was invited to plant a sapling to mark the significant day.

Afterwards, a floral tribute was paid at the War Heroes Monument in memory of all valiant Officers and Other Ranks of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland and later he addressed the troops and shared his thoughts and views. Then, he joined for an all ranks tea.

Later, the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment posed for a group photograph with all Officers and the event concluded with a ‘Lunch’ at Officers’ mess SLSR. Council Members, Batch mates of the senior officer, senior officers, retired senior officers, officers and family members of the officers participated to the event.
