Major General D S Jayawardena RSP ndc, Deputy General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division who promoted to the rank of Major General after rendering a valuable service to the Sri Lanka Army as well as to the Motherland was felicitated at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Ambepussa on 17 January 2026.
According to military traditions, Colonel R R K Rajapaksha Udage, Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR, welcomed the Chief Guest and honoured with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he was accompanied by Brigadier P M S Karunaratne psc, Centre Commandant of RC SLSR to receive the salute of the Guard of Honour. After a while, he plant a sapling to mark the significant day.
Afterwards, a floral tribute was paid at the War Heroes Monument in memory of all valiant Officers and Other Ranks of the SLSR who made the supreme sacrifice for the Motherland.
Later in the day, he has joined all ranks tea for refreshments where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees.
Then, he has attended for the Seva Vanitha Donation Programme which is organized by the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
The event also textured with a special lunch hosted in honour of the newly promoted Major General Dilantha Jayawardena by all Officers at the Officers' Mess. A special memento was presented to Major General D S Jayawardena RSP ndc, by Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, the General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division and the Colonel of the Regiment of SLSR in honour of the well-deserved promotion to the prestigious rank of Major General.
