THE NEWLY APPOINTED COMMANDING OFFICER OF 6 SLNG ASSUMES DUTIES

Major A M G S Weerasooriya SLNG (O/6156) formally assumed duties as the 14th Commanding Officer of the 6th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard on 23rd April 2026 at the Battalion Headquarters, Puthukkudiyiruppu, Mullaitivu, in accordance with military traditions.

Upon arrival, the Commanding Officer was accorded a Guard Turnout and was warmly received by all ranks of the battalion.

The formal assumption of duties took place at an auspicious time amidst religious observances and blessings. In keeping with military customs, the Commanding Officer planted a sapling within the camp premises to mark the occasion.
