SLNG's HQ Battalion Opens its New Facilities for Officers & Other Ranks

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) as the day's Chief Guest was invited to inaugurate two new accommodation facilities at the SLNG Regimental HQ Battalion premises at Heraliyawala, Kurunegala this morning (6 April 2023).

Brigadier H.A Keerthinatha, SLNG Centre Commandant warmly welcomed the Commander of the Army on his arrival at the camp premises after a ceremonial Guard Turnout saluted him at the entrance in accordance with military formalities.

At first, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage after unveiling the special plaque moved into the Officers' accommodation building and warmed the new facility before he had a close look inside it in the company of several Senior Officers where he commended the efforts of all SLNG troops and their successful accomplishment of the project with minimum cost.

After a while, the day's Chief Guest moved into the newly-erected accommodation facility of the SLNG Other Ranks where he inspected all sections inside the building and shared a couple of thoughts with SLNG technical and engineering troops who toiled to erect the modern facility.

Around the same time, the Commander of the Army in his capacity also as the Colonel of the Regiment, SLNG was invited to lay the foundation stone for proposed construction of an additional three-storied accommodation building for Other Ranks since the existing buildings cannot be renovated any longer.

Later, the Commander of the Army, together with Senior Officers reviewed the progress of all other ongoing construction works inside the RHQ Battalion compound and instructed the troops accordingly.

After the end of the SLNG RHQ Battalion programme, the Commander of the Army together with Council Members of the Sri Lanka National Guard sat for a SLNG council meeting session at the SLNG Regimental Headquarters at Wehera, Kurunegala.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the day’s inaugurations.
