In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and compassion, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) organized a welfare visit to the Abhimansala – 3 Wellness Centre, Pangolla on 29 April 2026. The visit was intended to uplift the morale of resident war heroes who sustained life-altering injuries while selflessly serving the nation during the humanitarian operations, and to reaffirm the Regiment’s enduring commitment to their welfare and dignity.
The programme was conducted under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (East) and Colonel of the Regiment, SLNG, Major General J. S. B. W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, together with the President of the Regimental Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Kumarie Pallekumbura. Members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, the Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre, and several senior officers were also present, reflecting the collective respect and affection extended towards the war heroes.
As part of the welfare programme, a special lunch was hosted for 37 residential war heroes receiving long-term care at the Centre and for 32 dedicated caregivers who attend to their daily needs with devotion. Each resident was also presented with a parcel of sweets as a token of goodwill. Further demonstrating care and comfort, every war hero received a gift of a batik sarong and a batik shirt.
Adding warmth and vibrancy to the occasion, a delightful musical performance was presented by the Brave Heart War Heroes Band of the Centre. The performance created a joyful atmosphere and was deeply appreciated by all present.
During the visit, the Colonel of the Regiment, the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, and members engaged warmly with the resident war heroes, inquiring into their well-being, sharing moments of camaraderie, and offering words of encouragement and appreciation for their immense sacrifices.
This meaningful initiative clearly reflected the unwavering commitment of the Sri Lanka National Guard and its Seva Vanitha Branch to honour, support, and uphold the dignity and well-being of the nation’s war heroes, who remain a source of pride and inspiration to the Regiment and the country at large.
